Fifty four year old Ibrahim Mohamed Solih from the Maldivian Democratic Party was sworn in as President of Maldives at a ceremony held at the soccer stadium on Saturday. Chief Justice Abdulla Didi administered the oath of office.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former President of Sri Lanka Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge were among the dignitaries present at the ceremony.
