Pakistan's former PM sentenced to 10 years


Islabama Court on Friday sentenced Pakistan's former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to 10 years in prison after trial in absentia on being found guilty on corruption charges. He has also been ordered to pay a fine of eight million pound ($10 million) fine" over the purchase of high-end properties in London.

Court had further ordered that the properties, in London's exclusive Mayfair, be confiscated by the federal government.

Reports say that he was ousted as prime minister by the Supreme Court last year following a corruption investigation. He was also banned from politics for life.
