US Supreme Court holds Trump's travel ban constitutional

US-Supreme-Court-700-01

The US Supreme Court has held that the travel ban introduced by US President Donald Trump is constitutional. The Court on Tuesday announced the determination in a 5-4 ruling.

It reversed the order of lower courts that it deemed the travel ban unconstitutional. The justices ruled that President Trump acted lawfully in imposing limits on travel from several predominantly Muslim nations.

The Order said: "The Proclamation is expressly premised on legitimate purposes: preventing entry of nationals who cannot be adequately vetted and inducing other nations to improve their practices. The text says nothing about religion."
