China defends decision to remove two term limit to President

China has upheld the decision to remove the two term limit for President Xi Jinping holding that it would pave the way to strengthen the authority of the ruling Communist Party and unity of the state leadership.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has made a proposal to remove the two-term limit for the post of president and vice president through a constitutional amendment.

Spokesman of the National People's Congress Zhang Yesui told media  that the president has the term-limit while there was no term limits for head of the party and the military.

Meanwhile, this has caused concern and speculation that it would enable Xi Jinping who recently began his second five-year term to continue for an unprecedented third term and beyond.
