Raj Bavan's statement is intimidating, DMK wont' be cowed down : Stalin

Opposition leader M.K. Stalin on Sunday charged that the statement issued by the Raj Bhavan recently warning of legal action against any attempt to lay siege to its campus was in an "intimidating" tone. He vowed that Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) will not be cowed down by such threats.

Stalin in a statement issued pleads: "The Governor has sought to play direct politics by going beyond and against the Constitution. The DMK would not be cowed down by such threats and would continue its fight to protect the State's autonomy.

DMK had never organized black flag protests when the Governor participated in events in his personal capacity and as Chancellor of various universities.

The DMK protested only when the Governor organised meetings of officials in districts against the Constitution and sought to interfere with the rights of the democratically elected State government.

Federalism was the gift of the Constitution. DMK would not accept anyone who interfered with it by taking in hand the power not vested on him or her and relegated to the second place an elected government. The DMK will not run away from its responsibility and the Governor should understand it."
