Jaya's official residence to be a memorial

Tamilnadu Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam has announced that the Tamil Nadu government has allotted Rs 20 crore to convert 'Veda Nilayam', the official residence of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa into a memorial.

He made the announcement delivering his budget speech in the Tamilnadu Assembly. He explained that this was in addition to the construction of a "grand memorial" at her burial site at the famous Marina beach, at a cost of Rs 50.80 crore.
