The defamation case against former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK Patriarch Kalaignar Dr. M.Karunanithy, 92, was put off for March 10 by Chennai Court Sessions Judge Aathynathan. In this suit Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha has alleged that the articles written by Karunaithy, published in Ananda Vikatan and reproduced in Murasoli, A DMK party organ, is defamatory of her.

A new dress code for temple visits has come into operation in Tamil Nadu with effect from January 1. Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has prescribed the dress code for entry into temples. Men, women and children have been told what to wear. The objective is to enhance the spiritual ambience.
