Make Vinayaka Chathurthi idols of clay not of polluting materials: Madras HC


The Madras High Court has given guidelines on conducting Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations in public places in the city and directed the authorities to ensure that the idols installed temporarily by various organisations were made of clay and not of polluting materials such as plaster of paris. The organisers should also avoid using inflammable materials for construction of structures to house the idols.

AIADMK two factions merge formally


The Puratchi Thalaivi Amma (PTA) faction, headed by former Chief Minister O. Paneerselvam, and the other, AIADMK (Amma), headed by Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami have formally merged. AIADMK factions led by Chief Minister K Palaniswami and rebel leader O Panneerselvam came together today, August 21 after months of deliberations.

Rajiv murder Convict on fast unto death


Convict in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case Murugan alias Sriharan from Sri Lanka commenced his fast-unto-death in Vellore prison on Friday. He stated that he seeks to attain Jeeva samadhi declaring that he would continue his fast till his plea for release is considered.

Jaya’s death; TN to appoint Commission of Inquiry


Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami announced on Thursday that a probe will be conducted into the death of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha last December. The Commission of Inquiry will be headed by a retired High Court judge.
