Put in to bat by Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews, New Zealand posted 331 for six in their 50 overs. Corey Anderson top scored for New Zealand with 75 off 46. Openers Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum scored 49 and 65. Kane Willianson hit 57.
Sri Lanka were bowled out for 233 in 46.1 overs in reply. Lahiru Thirimanne top scored for Sri Lanka with 65 off 60 balls while Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews hit 46.
