Kumar Sangakkar hits eleventh double ton: one behind Don Bradman

Former Sri Lankan Skipper Kumar Sangakkara on Sunday completed his eleventh double ton in Test cricket on day two of the second Test against New Zealand in Wellington. 

The -37-year-old is behind only Australia legend Don Bradman on the all time list of batsmen who have scored the most double tons in tests.

Sangakkara, who became fastest player to score 12000 runs in Test cricket on Saturday, scored his 203 off 306 balls , hitting 18 fours and three sixes.  

Most double ton in test cricket :-

12 = Don Bradman of Australia.  29 centuries, 13 fifties overall.

11 = Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka. 38 centuries, 51 fifties overall.

9 = Brian Lara of West Indies. 34 centuries, 48 fifties overall.

7 = Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka. 34 centuries, 49 fifties overall.

7 = Wally Hammond of England.  22 centuries, 24 fifties overall.

6 = Sachin Tendulkar of India.  51 centuries, 68 fifties overall.

6 = Virender Sehwag of India.  23 centuries, 32 fifties overall.

6 = Marvan Atapattu of Sri Lanka,  16 centuries, 17 fifties overall.
