Four prisoners released from Trinco Prison

Four prisoners were released from the Trincomalee Prison following Presidential Pardon to mark the 70 th Independence Day. Prisoners who served sentence for minor offences or who were remanded for inability pay fines. Three of the prisoners were men, while one was a woman.

Superintendent of Prison Rajeev Sirimal Silva supervised the release. Chief Jailor Sanjeeva and other officials were present. Over 500 prisoners from prisons across the island were granted amnesty in view of the 70th anniversary of Independence.
