UNHRC Kandy Co-ordinator Kumuthini Vithanage has stated that ethnic and religious conflicts cannot be eliminated unless there is genuine change in the mental attitudes of individuals.

She made this observation addressing a workshop on reconciliation held at Ocrine Hotel in Kandy recently under the patronage of Inter News Organization. Representatives of civil society and government agencies attended the event.

She continued that although we have necessary mechanisms for reconciliation, a lasting solution depends on the change of attitudes by individuals of all communities.
