An agreement handing over the Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital to the government under the patronage of the President, Maithripala Sirisena was signed today (17). Dr. Neville Fernando and Secretary to the Ministry of Health Janaka Sugathadasa signed the agreement.
Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne, Higher Education Minister Lakshman Kiriella and others were present. Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne, addressing a media briefing stated that the hospital had all necessary facilities a teaching hospital should contain, including the latest pieces of medical technology. The hospital will provide a quality health service free of charge, which will be monitored by a group of board members. This will help resolve the issue regarding the lack of patients being treated by the hospital.
