Carlo reiterates call to GMOA to desist from staging a strike


Prof. Carlo Fonseka, the former head of the Sri Lanka Medical Council has reiterated his plea to the Government Medical Officers’ Association to desist from holding a strike that would affect the patients particularly at a crucial hour of dengue epidemic in the island.

He personally made the plea to Dr. Anurudhdha Padeniya, the President of the Government Medical Officers Union during a press conference held recently.

Carlo told them: ‘I beg of you, do not resort to strikes on my behalf and cause inconvenience to helpless patients.” Earlier, he had delivered a saner counsel to the GMOA that strike is a trade union weapon that must be utilized prudently.
