Government Medical Officers’ Association has urged Professor Carlo Fonseka to remain in office as Chairman of the Sri Lanka Medical Council until the SAITM issue is resolved. Officials of the GMOA met him at his Nawala residence and made the request.
Professor Carlo Fonseka has observed that strike action is a trade union, democratic weapon and it must be utilized prudently. According to media reports, he observed: “Holding strikes in a bid to win demands can be used as a weapon. Use that weapon wisely. It is an ‘extremely wicked’ act, if an association holds strikes that would put the lives of people in danger.”
