Compulsory leave for ministers not found guilty is against natural justice: Sathyalingam

Northern Provincial Minister Sathyalingam has charged that the directive by Chief Minister Wigneswaran for ministers not found guilty by the board of inquiry to go on compulsory leave is against the principles of natural justice.

He was speaking to the media. He went on that he was not found guilty of corruption by the board of inquiry. He had co-operated in the inquiry to find out the truth.

He also added that he denied the allegation that he collaborated with the government. As a provincial minister it is necessary to hold talks with the government for development projects in view of the limited powers vested with the provincial council. In fact for example he was able to obtain permission from the government to get foreign aid from Netherlands for a project. It was in such contexts, he contacted the government in the larger interests of the people.
