Govt sweats, shivers at holding polls: Mahinda charges

Sri Lanka Freedom Party Kurunegala Parliamentarian and former President Mahinda Rajapakse has charged that the Government suffers from polls phobia and sweats, shivers at the suggestion to hold elections.

He made the observation while speaking at the May Day rally of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) at the Galle Face Green on Monday afternoon.

During his address, he stated that they accepted the challenge and held the rally at the Galle Face Green. Now our ultimatum for this Government is to hold the election without further delay. But they would not dare to hold it now anyway. The country suffers today due to the loans obtained by the Government and owing to the controversial Bond sale issue. The Government turns a blind eye to charge the wrongdoers.

He also vowed that this will be the May Day rally which makes an effort to form a new Government and make an end to the present ruling system.
