Japan’s assistance in the aftermath of Meethotamulla tragedy

Japan has assured support to develop a master plan to manage solid waste in the Greater Colombo Area.

Japanese Ambassador Kenichi Suganuma and JICA Sri Lanka Chief Representative F. Tanaka handed over emergency relief items to Disaster Management Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa at a simple event. This is part of the immediate assistance given to the Government in the face of the Meethotamulla disaster.

The items include tents, sleeping pads, portable water cans, water purifiers, generators, floodlight equipment with a generator, headlights, poisonous gas detectors, high accuracy GPSs and mobile toilets to be handed over to the victims.
