The Point Pedro Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, January 25 ordered 6 month sentence suspended for 5 years to 56 Indian fishermen who pleaded guilty of crossing the IMBL and poaching in Sri Lankan territorial waters.
Court also ordered their release.
Court further ordered the authorities to make arrangements to send them back to India.
These fishermen had been intercepted by the Sri Lanka Navy Fast Attack Craft attached to the Northern Naval Command South East of Delft Island in December.
