Sri Lanka’s first Test Cricket Captain Warnapura no more

Sri Lanka’s first Test Cricket Captain Bandula Warnapura passed away on Monday, October 18 while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.

He was 68 at the time of his demise. He had been the coach of the Sri Lankan team as well as an administrator at Sri Lanka Cricket. He led Sri Lanka when it finally became a fully-fledged Test-playing country. He had played 4 Test matches and 12 One Day Internationals (ODI) during his international cricketing career from 1975 to 1982.
