Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene on Wednesday, April 7 announced in Parliament that the Parliamentary seat of Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Ranjan Ramanayake had been declared vacant.

He stated that the Parliament Secretary General had informed the Elections Commission that MP Ranjan Ramanayake ceased to be an MP in terms of Section 64/1 of Parliamentary Elections Act No1 of 1981.
