AG ought to decide, act on PCoI Report on Easter Sunday attacks … Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith

Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith Katuwapitiya

Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith has urged that it was Attorney General who should decide and act on the recommendations made by the Presidential commission.

He was addressing a protest staged on Saturday by the Catholics of Katuwapitiya together with the clergy protesting against the appointment of a committee to study and report on the findings of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter Sunday attacks.

He said: “This commission report was prepared by five highly intellectual personalities how can we allow a group who don’t even have O/Ls to decide about it. In such circumstance, the appointment of a committee is an attempt to hide some unfavorable recommendations in the PCOI inquiry into the Easter attack. The government should publish the PCoI report soon. We are suspicious as to why the government is reluctant to do so. We will have to seek the assistance of international institutions, if action is not taken against those who are responsible for the attack.”
