Foreign Minister Dinesh meets EU envoys briefs them of governments commitments in the current context

Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena met with European Union envoys recently and briefed them of the challenges Sri Lanka was facing on its economy and the foreign currency reserves due to the significant reduction in remittances and tourism revenues induced by the COVID-19 global pandemic.

The EU envoys were Ambassadors of Italy, Germany, Netherlands, France, Romania and the EU Delegation based in Colombo. The meeting took place at the Foreign Ministry. EU Ambassadors sought clarifications regarding the recent import restrictions that were enforced and the likely time frame the restrictions would be lifted.
