The good features of 19 A must be preserved … Vasu

Democratic Left Front Leader Minister of Water Supply Vasudeva Nanayakara has urged the government to preserve and protect the good features of the 19th Amendment while moving the 20 A.

He made this observation speaking to the media, after a meeting with the Ambassador of Cuba to Sri Lanka Juana Elena Ramos Rodrigues. Vasu said:

“Some good aspects of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution such as provisions guaranteeing the Right to Information, limiting the Presidential terms to five years and preventing dual citizenship holders to contest elections need to be retained. There are several positive aspects of the 19 th Amendment which should be retained.”
