1987 Aranthalawa Bhikkhu Massacre survivor files FR petition in the SC

Ven.Andaulpatha Buddhasara Thera, a monk who survived the Aranthalawa Bhikkhu Massacre in 1987 on Tuesday filed a Fundamental Rights petition in the Supreme Court seeking an order to prosecute any living terrorist involved in the massacre. He also seeks a compensation of Rs.20 million from the State.

Acting IGP, State Intelligence Services Director and the Attorney General are cited as respondents.

Ven.Buddhasara Thera in his petition filed through his counsel Moditha T.B. Ekanayake states that no legal proceeding has ever taken place in relation to the Aranthalawa LTTE attack and it is a violation and continuous infringement of the Fundamental Rights guaranteed to the petitioner and others.
