The incumbent govt is a failure, SLPP has not delivered goods … Ranil at the launch UNP election campaign

Ranil Wickremesinghe

United National Party Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe has observed that the incumbent government is a failure. The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna government has not delivered any solution. The only party that can provide solutions to the crisis is the UNP.

He made this observation delivering the key note address as the Chief Guest at the launch of the UNP election campaign on Sunday, June 28 at the Sirikotha party headquarters. The launch was through the digital technology and was broadcasted in 160 locations across the country.

During his address, Wickremasinghe said:

“The party or group which can strengthen the economy of the country and the future of the people should be supported at the general election and only the UNP has the capabilities to achieve those goals.

COVID-19 pandemic affected all the global economies but governments in most of the countries took steps to revive their economies and protect the people. However, the present SLPP government has been in power for eight months and it has failed to do so.

The UNP will present a comprehensive economic plan to rebuild the country and ensure a sustainable income for all Sri Lankans, especially the rural folks. Answers must be provided to micro and macroeconomic issues.

We dismiss the rumors that the UNP has made a pact with the government. The only pact the party makes is with the people.

The UNP is the only party that had listened to the views of the masses and given them a choice of candidates at the August 5, General Election. We have presented a mix of very capable new and old faces for the voters to pick and chose.

It has been proved time and again that the UNP was the only political party that can bring about genuine economic development without increasing the debt burden and by ensuring that the country’s assets were mortgaged to foreigners.”
