Shooting of pet dog; Negambo Court remands suspect retired SP


Negombo Chief Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya has remanded the retired Superintendent of Police, who is a suspect in the case of shooting a pet dog to death. The suspect was remanded till May 29. Court made the order when the case came up for hearing on Tuesday, May 26.

President’s Counsel Ashan Fernando made submissions to the court pertaining to the death of the dog and demanded that the bail granted to the suspect be cancelled. .

In this case Max, a pet dog of a Human Rights activist Britto Fernando was shot dead in Dalupotha area in Negombo, on the Vesak Full Moon Poya Day (May 07).
