Four Tamil Nadu fishermen apprehended forpoaching in Sri Lanka territorial waters

Four Tamil Nadu fishermen were apprehended in the seas northwest of the Delft island by the Sri Lankan Navy allegedly for poaching in Sri Lankan territorial waters. Their fishing trawler was also seized.

They were taken into custody by the Navy on 18th of January during the Naval patrol conducted to prevent the trespassing of Indian poachers and smuggling activities in the Sri Lankan territorial waters.

The apprehended Tamil Nadu fishermen are Bharathy, Mani, Sasikumar and Asok Kumar. They are in the ages of 29, 33, 34 and 50. The four fishermen were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Jaffna after a medical examination for further action.
