Kanimozhi, Indian Lok Sabha member, Dravidiya Munnetra Kalagam Deputy Leader and daughter of Dravidian Movement Patriarch M. Karunanithy, called on Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe and held discussions on several bilateral issues. She presented a book to him as a memento to mark the occasion.

During the discussions, she raised concerns over the issues faced by Sri Lankan and Indian fishermen. She stated that India and Sri Lanka have had several rounds of talks on Indian fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters but the issue has not yet been resolved.

She urged that both the Sri Lankan government and Indian government must resolve these issues on humanitarian grounds as these issues are livelihood problems of these fishermen.

She was accompanied by a delegation of Indian politicians including Indian Muslim League Leader Professor Cader Mohideen, Lok Sabha members Mohamed Basheer, Abdul Wahab, Nawas Khan etc.

Minister Rauff Hakeem, State Ministers Ali Zahir Moulana, Faizal Caseem and Parliamentarian Harris were also present on this occasion.
