Army Commander's tenure of office extended

The tenure of office of the Army Commander Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake has been extended for another year by President Maithripala Sirisena in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

The new extension will be effective from August 19th. Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake assumed duties as the 22nd Commander of the Sri Lanka Army on 5th July 2017.
