UK Federation of Saiva Temples expresses deep sorrow over Masthan's appointment

Saiva-Federation-uk-700-01

The Federation of Saiva (Hindu) Temples in the United Kingdom has expressed 'deep sorrow, concern and anguish' at the appointment of National List Parliamentarian Kader Masthan as Deputy Minister of Resettlement, Rehabilitation, Northern Development and Hindu Religious Affairs.

The Federation has expressed their concern in an open letter to the President issued on Tuesday. It further stated that this appointment undermines the very issue of post war reconciliation.

The Federation has pointed out that the appointment of a Muslim to oversee Hindu religious affairs 'is insensitive and mischievous'. The Federation has called on the President to respond to the hurt of the Saiva/Hindu community and 'take immediate steps to amend this transgression'.
