Amaradeva a legend imbibed with humanism

Maithripala-700-01President Maithripala Sirisena has hailed Dr. Pundith W.D. Amaradeva as an artiste who was not only a veteran musician, but also a legend imbibed with humanism.

President made this observation addressing the Parliament in the second reading stage of the Amaradeva Aesthetic & Research Centre Bill, in Parliament.

President further stated that the honour of the nation should bestow upon Pundith W.D. Amaradeva for the service he rendered to the country to take the pride of Sri Lanka to the world. The government has proposed to establish the Amaradeva Aesthetic & Research Centre with all essential components and infrastructure related to music to preserve the musical culture introduced by the late Dr. Pundith W.D. Amaradeva.

He added that the late Pundith Amaradeva had tuned the hearts of the entertainers with his breathtaking voice and gave a strong helping hand to nourish the Sri Lankan Artistic sphere.
