Wijedasa must substantiate his statement:Hakeem in the House


Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Leader Rauff Hakeem has urged the Justice Minister Wijedasa Rajapakse to substantiate his statement on Muslim extremists. He also charged Wijedasa for failure to provide such information to the authorities. Minister Hakeem was addressing the House responding to Wijedasa’s statement on Muslim extremists.

32 Muslims have joined ISIS: Wijedasa


Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapaksha has stated that 32 members of four Muslim families have joined the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. He was speaking on the Budget debate in the House.

New constitution to be enacted with Tamils participation: Sampanthan in the House


Tamil National Alliance Leader R.Sampanthan has observed that for the first time in the history of this country, the political parties substantially representing the Tamil people, particularly the North and the East of the country will be a party to the constitution making process. This would enable the realization of the future vision for this country. He was addressing the House during the Budget debate.

House passes 2nd reading of Budget 2017


Parliament yesterday passed the second reading of Budget 2017, presented by the National Unity Government with a two- thirds majority. 162 members voted for the Budget, while 55 members voted against it. The JVP and Joint Opposition Parliamentarians voted against. UNP, SLFP, TNA, CWC, SLMC and EPDP Parliamentarians voted for the Budget.
