Wimal indicted; released on bail

National Freedom Front Leader, former minister Wimal Weerawanse was indicted before the Colombo High Court on January 11.

He was on a charge of alleged unlawful acquisition of money and assets, estimated at Rs.75 million within a period of six years while serving as a Minister, during the former regime. The case was filed by the Bribery Commission.

High Court Judge Vikum Kaluarachchi ordered to release him on two sureties of Rs.500, 000 each. The case was put off for February 19.
