Two accused in the Welikada prison riot deaths case the former Inspector of Police Narcotic Bureau Police Inspector Neomal Rangajeewa and former Prisons Superintendent Emil Ranjan Lamahewa were served indictments at the Colombo Special High Court on Thursday, July 18. They were released on cash bail of Rs 100,000 each and two sureties of Rs 5 million each.
The three-Bench High Court comprised of Judges Gihan Kulatunge (President) Manjula Thilakaratna and Pradeep Hettiarachchi.
Deputy Solicitor General Dilan Ratnayake, appearing on behalf of the Attorney General at the trial, informed the Court that he would not object to granting bail to the accused on whatever conditions the Court may deem fit.
