A motion against President before SC for alleged interference with judiciary

A motion has been filed before the Supreme Court alleging that President Sirisena had insulted the judiciary and interfered in the independence of the judiciary, by asking the Attorney General to request the Supreme Court to deliver speedily, the judgement in respect of the fundamental rights violation petitions filed against the dissolution of Parliament.

The petitioner is Attorney-at-Law Anura Laksiri Unawatuna. It was filed on Tuesday. The motion pleaded that the President’s action is in violation of Article 129 of the Constitution of Sri Lanka, and that the Supreme Court should condemn this unlawful move by the President.
