CA re-fixes Lalith Weeratunge’s appeal for Nov 26

The appeal filed by Lalith Weeratunga, the Secretary to President Mahinda Rajapaksa (2005-2015) has been re-fixed for November 26 by the Court of Appeal.

In this case, Weeratunga has appealed against his conviction and sentence to three years’ RI on his having misused Rs. 600 million for the distribution of ‘Sil Redi’ in the run-up to the last Presidential poll of Jan. 8, 2105

The former Director of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission Anusha Palpita has also appealed against the conviction on the abuse of public property and the penalty imposed by the High Court of Colombo.

Counsel Kanchana Ratwatte appeared for Weeratunga.

The Court of Appeal bench comprised Justice Deepali Wijesundera and Justice Achala Wengappuli.
