SC to hear Contempt of Court case against Ranjan on Dec 10


Supreme Court directed on Wednesday that the contempt of court case against Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake be heard on December 10, 11 and 12.

The Bench comprised Chief Justice Priyasath Depp, Justices Vijitha Malalgoda and L.T.B. Dehideniya. Court issued notice on six journalists whom the Attorney General had cited as witnesses to appear before Court on the 10th December.

Additional Solicitor General Priyantha Nawana tabled evidence in the case before the Supreme Court citing 14 witnesses and 8 exhibits for the case. Among the exhibits were four CDs containing the statement of the deputy minister and four news items, which were published the deputy minister's statement.

President's Counsel, M. A. Sumanthiran appeared for the respondent Ranjan Ramanayake.
