Four monks released on bail


Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne has granted bail to four monks Ven Bengamuwe Nalaka Thera, Magalkande Sudantha Thera, Ven Ittepanne Saddhatissa Thera and Ven Medille Paggnaloka Thera against whom arrest warrants had been issued. Court ordered that they be released on Rs.150,000 each surety bail.

Court ordered the four monks to make statements to the Colombo Fort police. The suspects were ordered to appear before court on September 7.

The charge against them is causing damage to police vehicles during a protest organized by the Disabled Soldiers Association on November 7, 2016 and unlawful assembly.
