Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya yesterday ordered the news editors of media institutions to forward the unedited video footage of statements made by a Parliamentarian and Western Provincial Councilor in respect of an alleged display of a distorted national flag at a demonstration opposite the office of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption. Court made the order when the police presented the complaint made regarding the matter.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Phillipitiya has issued Contempt of Court notice on 27 persons including 10 UPFA Parliamentarians for violating court ban on demo in front of Bribery Commission. It was alleged that the demo condemned Bribery Commission summoning Gotabhaya Rajapakse to record a statement.

Court has issued an order banning any demonstration in front of the office of the Bribery Commission on April23. The Court order is issued following an announcement by Pivithuru Hela Uramaya PHU to hold a demonstration protesting against Bribery Commission summoning former Defence Secretray Gotabhaya to record a statement.

Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapakse was remanded till May 5 by Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court. The charge against him is alleged misappropriation of funds in Divi Neguma Department.
