Former Navy spokesperson Commodore, D. M. K. Dassanayake and five others accused in an alleged abduction case were granted bail by Colombo High Court Judge Manilal Waidyathilaka on Jan 8. They were indicted allegedly for abducting eleven youth in 2008. They were released on a cash bail of Rs. 100,000 and three sureties each worth Rs. 400,000. The accused were ordered to the CID Headquarters every Saturday.


Colombo Additional Magistrate Aruni Artigala ordered Former Defence Ministry Monitoring MP Sajin Vass Gunawardena to pay a fine of Rs.1,000 when he pleaded guilty to the charge of the non-declaration of assets and liabilities while he was serving as a Parliamentarian between March 31, 2011 and March 31, 2012.
