The annual feast of the St. Anthony’s Church in Kochchikade, Colombo was held on June 13 with the participation of Christians and people of other faiths. A trilingual mass was held.
The statue of St. Anthony was taken in procession , while blessing the devotees. The entire area was decorated with lights and flags barring the saint’s face as well as his colours brown and yellow.
Devotees tied similar flags on large flagpoles that are hoisted in the air amid crucifixes. While the statute of St Anthony was paraded through the streets, choirboys and several marching bands preceded the statue. Crowds attempted to try and touch the statue, as they believe ailments may be cured.
