Hundreds of Hindu Murugan devotees participated in the Vel Ptha Yathrai from Vavuniya to Nallur. The pilgrimage on foot commenced from Pathirakali Amman temple in Veppankulam in Vavuniya and will proceed to Nallur Kanthaswamy Koil. They will participate in the annual festival of Nallor Kanthaswamy koil.

Special religious ceremonies were held recently at the Trincomalee St. Mary's Church to mark its 125th year. Parish Priest Paul Terinson presided over the ceremonies. Religious sermons were delivered to the congregation of hundreds of Catholic men and women devotees.
